For being a $13 piece of equipment, it works perfectly well for what I expected it to do. This is a handheld machine that lays down "chain stitches," which are stitches that are supposed to unravel. You have to first use the threader to pull the loose end of the thread through the fabric to the underside, then tie a knot at the end of your seam to prevent it from unraveling. For people who are complaining about having to tie the knot, it's a $13 machine!!! It should be compared to hand-stitching, and not to a sewing machine! Once you get the hang of it, it sure beats hand-stitching to make the repairs.
So far, apart from playing with it to test its capabilities, I have used it to mend some clothing. The Stitch Sew Quick appears to have some kind of feeder dog that advances the cloth automatically without needing to additionally really pull it through, but pulling it through does change the stitch length. You also need to have a steady hand to keep the seam straight. Apart from the clothing repair, I've been sewing seams through a sheet of blue garage paper towel to experiment. The seams have been about 8" to 10" long in my experiments, and the Stitch Sew Quick hasn't "missed a stitch" at all.
I find that the unraveling feature of the "chain stitch" is actually quite convenient for using the Stitch Sew Quick to tack two pieces of cloth together instead of pinning them together before sewing the real seam. Once the real seam is sewn in with a real sewing machine, then just pull the end of unravel the chain stitch seam.
If you're the gadgety type, you usually have a good sense of how mechanical machines work, you have a steady hand, and you have the patience to make sure the machine is threaded and calibrated correctly before you begin, then using this machine really beats hand-stitching a boring seam repair. It is a simple machine, but it requires a delicate touch, and it is not idiot-proof or easy to use.

Very useful and handy, but some little problems. Sometimes it misses a stitch, in particular if the thread is too loose. You always need to remember to use it for no more than 10 seconds and then pause for 5, otherwise it gets stuck.

Brought this for sewing my halloween costumes. After reading the reviews, so scrared it won't work properly. But I read the instructions and followed every single steps, the little machine works fine. I am happy that it fullfills my basic needs. Instead of spending a lot money to buy a big one, this machine is not a bad choice at all.
Note: You do need to sew 10 seconds and stop for 5. Otherwise, it will loose. But your hand starts tired after 10 seconds anyway.
Overall, you get what you paid for. Nothing fency, but recommended if just for basic line sewings or repairs.

Great value! Gets the job done quick. Only a few minor issues: button tends to stick and it takes a bit of effort to manually lock stiches off at the end.

Most machines that promise a quick and simple solution to any problem often times don't deliver. As I'm sure that you've read many negative reviews for this product, I'm here to tell you that it's possible to use it successfully.
The needle doesn't raise very high, so if you are working with multiple layers of cloth, try ironing them as you only have about half a centimeter or less of space.
The machine makes a stitch which can be easily loosened (other have said it is similar to a feed sack stich), so it works best on things which have a beginning and end (unlike a pant cuff). When you reach the end, keep the machine on and make some extra blank stitch on the end which you can then tie in a knot.
I bought this with a Michael's 40% off coupon, so it was only $9.
If your material is too thick, the needle will not penetrate it, and you will lose your stitch.
It doesn't do everything, and won't miraculously fix your fabric issues, but with enough determination and careful precision, you can make it work.
